reveals that, Breast cancer ranks fourth as a cause of death in Ghana.
The first three including HIV-AIDS are preventable but breast cancer
is practically not and deserves serious attention. The insidious nature
of breast cancer makes it imperative for every woman to visit an early
detection facility once or twice a year, even when she has not noticed
or experienced any suspicious signs or symptoms herself.

The Mammocare
mammography program offers a discounted screening mammogram for women
with or without symptoms of breast disease. A mammogram is a low-dose
X-ray taken of the breast tissue to look for early cancers, which may
be detected from 2 to 10 years before a mass can be felt in the breast.
Our mammography
suite offers women outpatient diagnostic testing for breast diseases.
A female technologist, specially trained in mammography, will position
you for imaging. The breast is compressed briefly so that the smallest
structures (even the size of a few grains of salt) in the breast may
be seen. In the Mammocare program, two pictures of each breast, one
from above and one from the side are taken. There may be some discomfort
when the breast is compressed, but most women say the procedure is not
painful. Your exam should take approximately twenty minutes.

We recommend scheduling your appointment at least two weeks in advance
to get the time you desire. Please call 021-258465 on weekdays between
9;30 am and 2:30 pm. The scheduling clerk will ask you a variety of
questions, including your name, age and Doctor’s name.
The cost
is only ¢200,000 for our Mammocare mammography screening service.
(this amount also includes a radiology reading fee.) Payment is accepted
at the time of your mammogram. We accept cash.
